In this Module you will discover how to emulate nature – to attempt to put back in what we have taken out, or rather removed from horses existence.

Horses in the wild are free ranging, eating seasonally from a massive range of grassland and herbage. They eat from natures pharmacy and grocery store.

When we lock them behind fences into pasture and stable them we remove them from that environment.

Diet is essential to the horses health and well being.

Their health and condition, dentition and hooves are all at risk of deterioration as a result.

The condition of horses is a fine indicator of capacity and health. Hair testing will be introduced and discussed as a quantifier of horses condition.

The correct mineralisation of paddocks is another essential area to discuss and discover.

The impact of dentition is often overlooked by owners and the JENT practitioner needs to be able to assess these variables to make a call on how much they are affecting the horses health and condition with regards to the work its doing.
