This Module introduces you to the power of hands on healing, palpation and manipulation.

The JENT tactile capacity starts here without which the system would not develop.

To augment your skills we also train you to use two vital tools:

  1. The JENT Equine Massager
  2. The FascialEdge tool.

Access to both tools extends your capacity way beyond the dual use of your hands. Over the years you will be so grateful for the use of these therapeutic aids as they will save your hands from repetitive joint and tendon deterioration.

Massage purists may say that is a departure from the tactile nature of ‘hands-on massage. That it will reduce your ‘touch’ and diminish your technique and efficacy.

In fact the very opposite is true.

It has been demonstrated by fascia research scientist Robert Schleip PhD that the fascia has up to 10 times more nerve supply than muscles making neuro-myo-fascial manipulation the focus of most physical therapies.

Schleip points out the following:

  • Fascial mechanoreceptors are intricately interwoven with the autonomic nervous system vital to endocrine secretions such as serotonin – an important mood enhancer
  • The Pacini mechanoreceptors respond to rapid changes in pressure and to vibration or oscillatory techniques which triggers heightened local proprioceptive attention of the central nervous system leading to vagal nerve inhibition
  • The Ruffini endings are activated by slow and deep ‘melting quality’ soft tissue techniques, as well as faster strokes; they are especially responsive to tangential forces and lateral stretch, all lowering the sympathetic nervous system activity, which tends to have a relaxing effect on local tissues and the whole system

This indicates the vital nature of having a range of manual and technical tools to activate the fascial mechanoreceptors for tangential and lateral stretch, depth, vibration and oscillation effects.

After this training you will know how to integrate these these tools into a congruent and fluid response, in which the deep percussive oscillating vibrating action of the JENT Equine Massager precedes the hands either holding the FacialEdge tool for facial straightening, lateral stretch and ischemic depth, or following by pushing the blade of the hand with tangential force for the effects described above.

No matter which way you look at it, the outcomes are enhanced and optimised; saving your hands; speeding up to therapeutic responses, deepening the effects.

These findings were generated after research on human systems but because our neuro-myo-fascial physiology is the same as horses so it applies to them as well.

However the effects are magnified exponentially due to the ease of application on the extreme size, musculature, thickness, and fur coat (instead of skin) of our equine companions.

No equine bodyworker can replicate the effects achieved by these tools with their bare hands. They will become a powerful addition to your clinical repertoire.
