Benefits

There`s no doubting the benefits of ‘hands-on’ deep remedial massage and soft tissue therapies.

A ‘healing tactile touch’ has been enjoyed and revered for thousands of years. In recent times they have been rigorously researched to reveal the repeatable biological principles of their mechanisms. In addition to the physical benefits, clients often demonstrate welcome feelings of euphoric relaxation and well-being.

The reasons for this is becomes more clear as we appreciate to role that the neuromyofascia plays in regulating biomechanics and sympathetic nervous system activation. It has recently been determined that the ‘fascia’ is much more than just connective tissues; in fact it is 10 times more enervated than the muscles. The implications of this is enormous and explains why we all respond so well to light to firm soft tissue massage.

In fact the most skilled practitioners can activate self-healing, repair and regenerative responses in their clients. Our three main domesticated animals – dogs, cats and horses – all love being massaged.

JENT Massage

At the second and subsequent sessions massage is used to enhance muscular health and flexibility as the horse returns to full work.

Appropriate advanced massage techniques and technologies are also used to improve the horse’s motivation and self-confidence in its ability to produce a higher quality form of motion.

Muscle ‘memory’ CAN be changed after source causes are addressed so neuromuscular re-education is utilised to restore normal functioning.

For this reason a gentle. no-resistance walk-out after each JENT session allows the horse to rediscover and get accustomed to a new kinaesthetic sensation and feel of the movement without an expectation of pain occurring during its performance.

JENT Massage Tools

A JENT massage practitioner utilises the hands, the JENT Equine Massager and the FascialEdge® tool.

The practitioner will uses a combination of touch and technically enhanced treatment to get the best results; to bring relief to your horse and release any ‘trigger points’ or painful ‘guarding reflexes’ that may further hinder muscle relaxation and to allow a return to a Full Range Of Movement (FROM).

Massage has been rigorously researched and the benefits are magnified for a JENT treated horse because of these technologies. Generally remedial massage:

  • Identifies and removes tension and trigger points to reduce intramuscular contractures
  • Stimulates venous return circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Rehydrates fascia (plasma extravasation) making fibrotic adhesions more receptive to mechanical release – lengthening connective tissues
  • Promotes repair and regeneration of musculoskeletal injuries
  • Triggers a ‘physiologic effect’ of reduction in inflammation and oedema
  • Analgesia – reduction in pain and swelling
  • Boosts muscle tone supporting performance and endurance increases
  • Supports increases in health and well-being
