JENT HOMEPAGE

There is nothing really wrong with my horse but he’s tough to train and becomes highly strung in stressful situations. What can JENT do for him?

‘Hot’ horses and those less compliant in training can also have pain related issues without being clinically lame. If it’s there, JENT will find it. 2 initial sessions will take care of all but serious conditions and a 3rd session will secure the changes. Your horse will feel calmer under stress, more confident, and be a whole lot easier to ride. Over the following months of work he’ll get stronger and raise the bar of the current performance level.

My horse has had a low grade sore back for ever. Sometimes it’s worse than others. I’ve had a number of therapist to her and it improves for a few weeks but always comes back. I’ve had a professional saddle fitter in and tried 6 saddles before settling on the one the horse liked best. She’s improved but still moves stiffly through the back and objects to correct bending and staying round. I can get her there for a few strides but she slows down or flares up. Can JENT help?

Yes. Often the saddle is not the primary cause of the back pain. Chronic back pain can also occur from issues in the shoulders, front limbs, feet, HQs or hocks. Through palpation, reflex testing, joint range of motion comparisons and gait analysis the JENT practitioner will find the primary source of the horse’s issues and unravel the layers. It only takes 3 initial sessions. Once sorted, you will know quickly if a new issue arises as a behaviour change will be the first indicator.

I think there is something wrong with my horse but no-one else does! They think he’s ‘putting it over me’. I can tell he’s in pain somewhere and that riding him makes it worse. He’s so nice on the ground but challenges me when ridden. My instructor can make him do anything but then he’s flat and grumpy for days afterwards. Can JENT help?

Yes. If there is pain involved JENT will find it. If you know your horse well, and you have reasonable riding skills it is likely you are quite right! The issues may not be bad enough for your horse to go lame. Quiet horses are rewarded for ‘putting up with’ discomfort, but at times the accumulation of issues can become more than they can handle and noncompliance is the first sign. They often let the closest person in their life know all about it!

My horse is often ‘off’, a bit uneven but not really lame enough to retire. I’ve tried everything. Would JENT help?

It is important in cases such as this to seek veterinary advice to firstly determine the presence and extent of any inflammation or damage that might be present in limb joints. Conditions do not remain static. A JENT practitioner will firstly treat any joint issue with Photonic Red Light Therapy for pain management and to accelerate healing. RPRLT on site of inflammation plus administration of an appropriate acupoint protocol is complimentary to veterinary practices (you just need to let your vet know), to promote natural healing and pain relief. Then, by correcting primary fascial distortions and secondary chronic tension in muscles better posture and form becomes apparent as horses stand and move with their weight more evenly distributed over each of the four legs. This has a profound effect on alleviating joint inflammation and may achieve good results with pre-existing joint conditions.

What is involved in the actual treatment?

After the initial assessment testing and evaluation, the first part of the treatment involves stimulation of certain acupoints with 660nm non-invasive and completely safe Photonic Red Light. This is like acupuncture without needles, only quicker. It induces release of neurochemicals which help to reduce pain, relax muscles and stimulate healing responses. You will notice your horse visibly relax during this process. By stimulating the nervous system in this way, the brain actually resets its original blueprint triggering healing of chronic issues and assisting systemic processing.

Tight and painful muscles will feel better within minutes and allow the JENT Practitioner to locate deeper chronic issues which may have previously been undetected. This is the process of discovering the primary cause of pain. Corrections are made using a number of unique manual techniques. Horses show obvious signs they experience relief quickly by relaxing right down, yawning repetitively and often go to sleep. Heather, I do have a movie that could be embedded in here of a lady in Ireland relating how different her horse was after its first session.

The JENT techniques release distortions in the fascial system which connect the whole horse together and have effects well away from the source. JENT looks at the big picture, not just working on one area that may initially appear to be the most painful. Observant owners often know where their horse is sore such as across one side of the rump, the neck, or in the saddle area. However, compensatory issues can cause significant pain and discomfort yet can stem from a problem somewhere else. Once the primary source of pain or discomfort is addressed, the compensatory issues disappear. Think about if you wore someone else’s shoe that had worn down one heel. Gradually, you would feel tension in the calf and before long the knee, hip joint and lower back would also be affected. You could have your back treated but if the shoe problem is not rectified, your back problem will keep reoccurring.

So JENT doesn’t just work on movement problems?

No, a JENT practitioner can assist recovery from many health conditions such as:, eye issues, skin problems, reproductive disorders, colic and other gastro-intestinal issues as well as persistent coughs. Also, methods are used that accelerate healing in cases of wounds, inflammation and swelling. Photonic Red Light Therapy alone is an extremely useful first aid device and aids in the elimination of proud flesh and assists when wounds are slow healing.

JENT is a process of checking the equine body systematically for any signs of pain, and can also detect metabolic issues e.g. low grade pain creates anxiety which in turn causes acidity in the stomach disturbing digestion; or a horse has a persistent little cough especially at the beginning of exercise, that doesn’t go away with medication; or, low grade laminitis from an overload of grain in the diet can be discovered by testing acupoints and other reflex tests that indicate what system has an imbalance/ineficiency.

I’ve noticed after the 3 initial JENT sessions my horse is much happier, feels looser and is easier to ride. Is this going to last?

Physical fitness and housing/paddock/environment unsuitability appear to be the main cause of new issues. Nothing remains static with horses. Things change all the time: training regimes, housing, paddocks, paddock mates, shoeing, saddles etc. Owners/riders must stay continually vigilant to negative signs heralding a new development. Early signs can cross your mind just as a thought and be easily disregarded. The more knowledge people have about what signs to look for, as there are always a reason for small odd changes in horse behaviour and movement, the less likely issues will develop into movement deficiencies. Catching new small injuries early will eliminate constant visits. A JENT Practitioner is happy to share information to help you notice signs of new issues and will teach you how to detect if a professional visit is needed.
